Canon PowerShot A460 review

Asia.cnet has posted a review of the Canon PowerShot A460 digital camera.

Will Greenwald writes: Budget cameras are everywhere these days. Plenty of snapshot cameras cost less than US$200, and you can even find some for around US$150. The Canon PowerShot A460 is in that second category of inexpensive shooters. This basic, 5-megapixel camera comes in at the very low end of Canon’s PowerShot A-series of digital cameras. On paper, it looks like your average budget camera. Unfortunately, a lackluster design in addition to image-quality issues make it feel like Canon phoned this one in.

Canon PowerShot SD800 IS Digital ELPH

Imaging-resource has posted a review of the Canon PowerShot SD800 IS Digital ELPH.

Mike Pasini writes: Featuring a 7.1-megapixel CCD, 3.8x optical zoom lens, image stabilization, and well-designed user interface, the Canon PowerShot SD800 IS updates the popular PowerShot line with a compact body style well suited for travel. Exposure remains under automatic control, something novices will appreciate, and the Canon SD800’s 10 pre-programmed Scene modes help with more tricky subjects. The SD800 is a very responsive camera, with low shutter lag in daylight conditions, and excellent shot-to-shot
speeds. It also sports very good battery life, a very capable Movie mode, and excellent download speed. The bright 2.5-inch color LCD monitor is excellent for framing and reviewing shots, and the overall design and layout of the SD800 IS is user-friendly and hassle-free. If you’re looking for a good take anywhere camera with great versatility and good color and tonality, the Canon SD800 IS deserves a close look.

Canon PowerShot SD430 Digital Elph Wireless

Pcmag has posted a review of the Canon PowerShot SD430 Digital Elph Wireless.

Terry Sullivan writes: Feature-wise, the SD430 is on a par with its closest competitors. It offers a 3X optical zoom with a 5.8mm-to-17.4mm range (which is equivalent to a 35mm lens with a 35-105mm zoom) and corresponding maximum f-stops of f/2.8 to f/4.9. The 8MP Coolpix P1 and 5MP Coolpix P2 give you slightly more magnification, with a 3.5X zoom. The Kodak EasyShare One, which is only a 4MP camera, has a 3X optical zoom but also has 256MB of internal memory. The SD430
has no internal memory.

Pcmag has posted a review of the Canon PowerShot A630 digital camera.

Terry Sullivan writes: The 8MP Canon PowerShot A630 may be a bit bulky for a compact camera, but the great physical controls and easy-to-use features will appeal to those who appreciate a variety of settings to capture their photos.

Pros: Big, bright articulating 2.5-inch LCD. Easy-to-use manual controls. Direct-vision viewfinder. 4X optical zoom. Lots of manual controls.

Cons:A little pricey for a compact. Video could be smoother. Slightly bulky.

Canon Powershot A640 digital camera review

Letsgodigital has posted a review of the Canon Powershot A640 digital camera. They write: I think that Canon’s success with its digital camera range is set to continue thanks to the excellent quality of the Canon PowerShot A640. I really liked this camera when I tried it out. The handy format with good grip, and more importantly, the settings options gave me lots of freedom to take a successful picture. This camera certainly contributes
to Canon’s continuing success as a camera manufacturer. The Canon A640 is a typical camera from the PowerShot A series and is currently the top model in this camera segment. The ten Megapixel resolution is not really an improvement on its predecessor. It just gives you slightly bigger enlargements, but this is hardly worth the trouble. The 10 Megapixels are more like a logical next step in the Megapixel race. It’s up to you whether you want to join it or not.

Canon PowerShot A630 review

Imaging-resource has posted a review of the Canon PowerShot A630 digital camera. Mike Pasini writes: It’s easy to see why Canon PowerShots continue to be popular. Their design is user friendly and well-built, the pictures are great, and they’re easy to shoot. The Canon PowerShot A630 continues in that tradition of dependability, sporting an 8.0-megapixel CCD, a very good quality 4x optical zoom lens, and a big 2.5 inch swiveling LCD screen. It
offers everything from full automatic to full manual exposure control, with a healthy set of Scene modes thrown in to make it easy to bring back great-looking photos from what might otherwise be challenging situations. It has a great movie mode, and its superb lens delivers great sharpness across the frame. Thanks to its high-speed DIGIC-II processing chip, it’s also very responsive, and its movie capability is impressive as well. Bottom line, like its brother the A640, the Canon A630 is a classic; just an excellent
all-around digital camera.

Nikon Coolpix S10 digital camera Review

Pocket-lint has posted a review of the Nikon Coolpix S10 digital camera. They write: Previous, award winning swivel lens/body design CoolPix cameras came at time when the digital camera market was (perhaps) not yet as mature as today and now technology has moved on and despite the wavy body design, the S10 now looks a tad wearisome.

The fact the image quality and lens perform well is good to see (as is the new price, down from a launch price of £349 to a much better RRP of £299), but noise is too quick to appear in shadows. And I can’t help wondering that despite the novel, use-at-any-angle-swivel-lens design and the practicalities it affords the user, it has perhaps now finally seen its day.

Canon IXUS 900 Ti Review

Cameras.co.uk has posted a review of the Canon IXUS 900 Ti digital camera. They write: The Canon IXUS 900 Ti is a high quality digital camera. It also has a high price! Picture quality and build quality are impressive and this is also a very stylish camera. Although I am not a big fan of ten megapixel, consumer digital cameras purely for printing purposes Canon have added worthwhile features with the Digital Tele-Converter and
safety zoom.
