Choosing the right camera for you

the independant The Independant has posted an article about how to choose the right digital camera that’s right for you.

If you need a very quick Digital Photography 101 (quick over view) then read this article. It goes over what sort of insurance and warranties cameras usually have and warns you to read fine prints that might trap you into paying hefty fees.

The best advice that I could give a digital photography beginner is to go on google.com and search for camera reviews and user feedback. Research first and then take out your credit card. This advice is nothing revolutionary but I’ve seen lots of people buying cameras which are clearly not for them.

Olympus Magnifier Eyecup ME-1

Olympus - Press Releases

Eyecup

Here’s a short press release that Olympus released yesterday. This little accessory seems to attach to the viewfinder of the E-500 and E-300 and magnifies the view by 1.2 times.

I don’t know how useful that would be… but the say that it will improve ease of use.

Hamburg, 9 November 2005 – The new Olympus Magnifier Eyecup ME-1 increases the viewfinder performance of the recently-launched E-500 by providing views 1.2 times larger than normal. It also fits on the E-500’s forerunner – the digital SLR E-300. Simply attach the eyecup magnifier in place of the standard eyecup and enjoy bigger views of subjects. Ease of use is thereby significantly enhanced during focusing and framing. The eyecup incorporates two lenses and measures 40 x 30 x 12mm. This very helpful accessory will be available from December 2005.

Oh wherefore art thou Canon 30D?

Camera-News.com has a post about the many rumors floating around the internet about Canons answer to Nikons D200 DSLR camera. It is assumed that the Canon 30D is probably going to be announced by Canon soon and it is not uncommon to see people suggesting potential buyers to go ahead and wait for Canon 30Ds before buying any expensive DSLR cameras.

We’ll see if Canon “accidently” posts pictures of their 30D on their website like Nikon did earlier ;)

We do know it looks nothing like it’s 7.0 megapixel brother, the SCH-V770, and very much like the SGH-i300 3GB multimedia smartphone being held up by Ki-Tae Lee at the press conference earlier today.
