Epson UK Press Release

HALL 2 STAND 2J12

5th – 9th February 2006 - Supported by a number of guest artists, the Epson stand will be showcasing the latest, on-demand, “scan-to-print” and Giclée printing techniques through the award-winning range of LFP products at the Spring Fair show, all of which are ideal for self-publishing artists and galleries wanting to reproduce limited and open editions of fine art prints.
The number of limited edition Giclée prints being supplied by artists has continued to increase. The growth is attributed to the benefits offered by Giclée. The print-on-demand technology, allows artists to experiment with their images and minimise the amount of capital tied up in stock. To support the “scan to print” capabilities of Epson’s current range, there will be an exclusive show offer available at the stand. You will receive a FREE Perfection 4990 Photo scanner when you buy an Stylus Pro 4800 at the show, offering you a total saving of over £340. Epson R-D1 Review

TrustedReviews - The UK’s Premier Source for IT Reviews & News have reviewed the Epson R-D1.

Epson RD1

Their introduction paragraph sums it up pretty nicely..

Here’s the specification. It’s a six megapixel camera with no autofocus, it only has center-weighted metering and either aperture priority auto or manual exposure. It has none of the usual handy features like auto-bracketing, continuous shooting or a movie mode, and although it has interchangeable lenses they’re incredibly expensive and you don’t even get a through-the-lens viewfinder. And it costs £2,000 just for the body.

Ouch.

Well.. umm.. to sum it up the review says:

Pros:
None

Cons:
Everything.
