Sony Cyber-shot DSC-W30 review

Asia.cnet has posted a review of the Sony Cyber-shot DSC-W30 digital camera.

David D. Busch writes: The Sony Cyber-shot DSC-W30’s performance is generally very good, except for a limited burst mode that delivers only 3 full-resolution shots at 1.4fps; however, it can maintain that rate until you’ve filled the card with VGA-resolution pictures. We’re impressed with the camera’s shutter-lag time of 0.3 second under high-contrast illumination, but the delay balloons to a frustrating 1.7 seconds under low-contrast lighting with the red focus-assist lamp. Power-on to first shot takes 1.6 seconds;
thereafter, the shot-to-shot time remains a speedy 1.3 seconds, slowing to 1.6 seconds if the flash needs to recharge.

Sony DSC T50 Review

Cameras.co.uk ha sposted a review of the Sony DSC T50 digital camera. They write: Whether or not the Sony DSC T50 appeals to you will depend almost entirely on whether or not you would like to get your hands on a digital camera with a touch screen. The good news is there is more to this camera than just that headline feature. Picture quality and build quality are very good. I would be very happy to own this camera. Recommended.

Sony Cyber-shot DSC-T50 digital camera review

Imaging-resource has posted a review of the Sony Cyber-shot DSC-T50 digital camera.

Dave Etchells writes: The ultimate judgement will have to await a complete test of a production-level model, but the Sony T50 looks like another winner. I personally dislike the touch-screen interface, but have to acknowledge that a lot of people really like it, so don’t take my word for it. Find one in a store someplace and play with it to see what you think of it yourself. (Or, if you already know you like touch screens, just click through to one of the retailers listed below and
buy yourself one, at great internet prices. ;-) Touch screen bias aside, this looks like a great little digital camera, with a huge, beautiful LCD screen and great anti-shake technology built in. The slightly larger body also gives it better battery life and much better flash range than the similar T10 model.

Sony Cyber-shot DSC-T10 digital camera review

Imaging resource has posted a review of the Sony Cyber-shot DSC-T10 digital camera.

Mike Pasini and Dave Etchells write: On the other side of the coin though, we found the Sony T10’s higher ISO modes rather noisy when shooting after dark, diminishing their usefulness, and its flash was as anemic as those of all the other subcompact cameras we’ve tested. All in all though, we found the Sony DSC-T10 a delight to use, and its Super SteadyShot image stabilization made a huge difference in our ability to hand-hold long exposures. Bottom line, this would be a great camera to take along on
a vacation. Super compact, able to handle a wide range of conditions, and able to save a lot of shots from what would otherwise be fatal camera-shake blur.

Sony DSC H5 Review

Cameras.co.uk has posted a review of the Sony DSC H5 digital camera. They write: The Sony DSC H5 is a very good super zoom digital camera. When it comes to image quality this is one of the best digital cameras you are likely to find in this category. It is easy to use, takes a good photo and has a good shutter response. Recommended.

Sony A100 review

Dcviews has posted a review of the Sony A100 digital camera. They write: Seeing that this is Sony’s first step into the digital SLR market, albeit with the help of Konica/Minolta technology, the Sony A100 is an excellent camera for those wanting to try their hands at DSLR photography. Of course if you already own Konica/Minolta lenses, buying an Alpha 100 would be your natural course of action as you can use most of your older lenses.
However for other users we feel the Alpha 100 offers enough advanced features to satisfy both beginners and enthusiasts. You get the very useable Super SteadyShot feature, an advanced anti-dust system; the Handy Dynamic Range Optimizer and superb handling and control.

Sony Cyber-shot DSC-T30 Digital Camera Review

Digitalcamerainfo has posted a review of the Sony Cyber-shot DSC-T30 Digital Camera.Emily Raymond  writes: The 7.2-megapixel Sony Cyber-shot DSC-T30 offers consumers a lot of style, some imaging capabilities, and little overall value. The camera is nicely packaged in a metal body that is skinny enough to slide into a pocket, but also has a few features that make it easier to handle than most
ultra-compact digital cameras. The Sony T30 has some positive points to its components too: the image stabilization is effective in keeping shakes out of the 3x optical zoom, the 3-inch LCD screen is large and has good resolution, and the ISO extends to a sensitive 1000 rating for low light shots. There are drawbacks too: the burst mode is slow, the LCD is fragile, and the movie mode requires a separate Memory Stick Pro Duo card to function at full speed. The pictures from the Sony T30 look good and the movies
garnered from the Pro card look good, but the quality still doesn’t justify the enormous price tag. At $499, the Sony Cyber-shot DSC-T30 is the most expensive ultra-slim digital camera on the market.

Sony Alpha 100 Digital Camera Review

Letsgodigital has posted a review of the Sony Alpha 100 Digital Camera.

They write: All in all, Sony has come up with a decent camera in the Alpha 100. A good beginning is half the battle. Consider the price/quality ration in the current market and you will see that the well known DSLR manufacturers have suddenly been confronted with a competitor to be afraid of! Not only is the Sony Alpha 100 a pleasure to work with, it also gives great results. People who now work with a Konica Minolta can go on to Sony without a hitch. This is immediately a strong point for Sony.
As well as launching a camera, it has come up with an enormous range of accessories and lenses. The Sony Alpha 100 is only the beginning of Sony’s rise in the world of reflex cameras. To the competitors, one can only say - watch the Sony Alpha 100 - this camera is ready to conquer market share!

Sony Cyber Shot DSC-T9 (Black) digital camera review

Reviews.cnet has posted a review of the Sony Cyber Shot DSC-T9 (Black) digital camera.

Shams Tarek writes: The Sony Cyber Shot DSC-T9 is a very quick camera, whether you’re going through the menu system, reviewing pictures, or shooting. It takes only 1.7 seconds to grab a first shot after turning on the power and only 1.3 seconds between successive shots in single-shot mode. Using the flash with red-eye reduction increases that time to 3.4 seconds. Continuous shooting is only fair at about 1.5fps, but shutter lag is impressive at 0.3 second.

Sony Alpha 100 digital camera review

Computeractive.co.uk has posted a review of the Sony Alpha 100 digital camera.

Gavin Stoker writes:

Good Points

• Fast and responsive

• Easy to use and won’t frighten first time SLR owners

• If you know your way around lenses, it’s capable of some stunningly detailed results, though the standard lens is adequate for starters

Bad Points

• Loud shutter sound may distract your subjects

• Plastic build and feel

• Expensive investment for anyone more used to snapshot cameras

Overall
Boasting more pixels (for now) than its budget D-SLR rivals, Sony’s Alpha 100 mixes innovation with the tried and tested. The result is a camera that’s a fuss-free pleasure to use.
